About Cause Community

Cause Community is a not-for-profit forum designed to support good causes by providing an innovative new platform where charitable organisations and volunteers can collaborate.

It's a destination for charities and non-profit organisations who are looking for help and support – and also one where willing volunteers can offer their services.

Cause Community is dedicated to bringing together and recycling knowledge and resources for the greater good, swelling the global community of volunteers and harnessing support for charitable organisations for a more worthwhile world.

Support for Charities and Causes:

  • Request Help
This section enables charitable organisations to recruit virtual and actual volunteer support for their causes by posting a request for help.

Registered volunteers can respond directly to the request and offer their time, knowledge or skills if they are able to help.

The scope of the requests can be as diverse as an ad-hoc one-off request, to a few hours of virtual support, or a regular or longer-term time frame.

  • Find Resources
This section provides a forum for recycling tangible resources to support charitable causes. Charitable organisations can post requests for resources such as children's toys or books to the volunteer community - items which otherwise may just end up in landfill. Redistributing these resources avoids waste as well as helping charities.

Registered volunteers can respond directly to the request if they are able to help.

  • Use the knowledge library
Cause Community has set up its own Wiki for charitable causes. Here, willing helpers can freely volunteer knowledge that they think may be useful to charitable causes, for example such as a sponsorship plan, information on creating a website or book-keeping tips. The aim is to develop over time, a useful source of knowledge created completely by volunteers that charitable causes can access, saving them time and effort so they can focus on their core activities. Additionally, existing charitable causes may share/volunteer knowledge from their own experiences, that they think other causes too would find benefit from.
  • Get Advice
Many people have some form of knowledge or skills to share, whether in a specific discipline such as legal, IT, finance, construction or plumbing or more generalised skill from which a cause may benefit. A cause can post a query or question it may have online to the cause volunteer community.

Registered volunteers can respond directly to the request if they are able to help.

Collaboration for Volunteers

Additionally Cause Community offers volunteers the opportunity to:

  • Create or Join a Project
Individuals or groups that want to make a positive difference and have a cause related project or idea that they want to initiate or extend further can register the idea or project on Cause Community and invite the support and collaboration of other registered volunteers to help it grow.

A project may invite other volunteers from a similar or diverse range of areas i.e. an IT developer may wish to invite other developers to write a software program to support charities or someone may want to post an invite to volunteers in a particular region to join a project to raise funds for a local cause such as a hospice, school or community centre.

The scope for projects is diverse. They can be based around social, environmental or technical concerns and aim to provide for example, education programs, support services or resource sharing either at local or national levels.
